The local villages of Radstock and Midsomer Norton offer the opportunity to learn more of our industrial heritage and mining that these villages owe their existence to. Radstock has an industrial museum called Somerset coalfield life where you can learn about life in and around the local area. We are also positioned close to the Somerset & Dorset Steam railway, with Midsomer Norton being just a few minutes’ drive away, where you can board a steam train – Check the local timetable for dates. The village of Paulton also has the largest dry dock in the country which was used to service the canal boats of the Somerset Coal Canal, which opened in 1804. The dry docks and canal are free to visit and is only a short walk from nearby parking.
