Sleepy Hollow has been upgraded in 2024 to have hard standing for all pitches, EHU, space for your awning should you need. The site has a toilet and shower and is a 1 mile walk to the town of Wirksworth. There is also plenty of space for BBQ’s.Wirksworth has many hidden gems – Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway and heritage railway, the star disc, the Heritage Centre, the National Stone Centre, the Hidden Garden as well as numerous pubs to cater for all tastes – real ale, live bands, good food, dog friendly – whatever suits your needs! In addition to this Wirksworth is renowned for its art and craft so you will find boutique art shops – when you need a break, have a breather in one of the numerous coffee shops or French Bistro. There are also cash machines and a Co-op (with fuel station) should you need cash or pick up supplies, not forgetting a variety of takeaways. If you enjoy the outdoors, the High Peak Trail can be picked up a mile from the Caravan Site at Middleton Top, and there is rock climbing at Harboro Rocks and Black Rocks (and Wirksworth has a great indoor climbing wall for the wetter days!) There are many short and longer walks around the area, and Carsington Water is walking distance from the site or a quick drive for those wanting to walk/ bike/ run around it. It also offers water sports from paddleboarding to sailing and trout fishing. 5 minutes further afield and you can be visiting Cromford and Richard Arkwright's mills for those wanting to know more about the history of the area, and for the book worms – Scarthin bookshop is a must in Cromford (as are the cakes in the café there!) Matlock, Belper, Ashbourne and Bakewell are close by – and there are bus routes from Wirksworth that can take you there. Historic houses such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall are all in easy reach. Both well-behaved children and dogs are most welcome. We look forward to welcoming you to our site.
