News about the CL Network - March 2022

With the Easter bank holiday only a few weeks away, now is the time to book a stay on a CL that meets your needs.

The CL Booking website (or app) allows you to do that with ease. Designed by the CL owners themselves, it makes it easy for both you - the visitor and the CL owner (who may be busy with their day job) to handle your enquiry efficiently.  You can even use filters for sites with a Toilet, Shower or Fully Serviced Pitches among others.

Many CL sites are reporting strong demand for pitches, but don't despair, if you want to get away for Easter there are still plenty of lovely small sites you can book through CL Booking.  

Walk your dog from a CL

Many of us with dogs love to use CLs because they are often in the heart of the countryside with access to footpaths where we can explore with our dogs.  Lots of CLs welcome dogs and on CL Booking we have a useful filter if you are searching for a CL with availability that helps you narrow your search to those that accept dogs.  A few CLs go out of their way to help you by providing mapped dog walks from the CL itself.  

Have you booked a CL yet?  

Our research shows that only a very few people (5%) who visit CLs have so far booked all their intended visits and the majority (over 60%) have yet to book any CLs.  Of course, at least 30% of members prefer (or cannot) book ahead as they like to tour more on the spur-of-the-moment, which is where the facility offered by CL Booking really helps, as users can see which CLs have space next weekend.  However, if you can book ahead, and want to stay at one of the more popular CLs we recommend you book soon as many are reporting strong bookings for 2022.

The Caravan Show

Did you attend? Held at the NEC in Birmingham, the show is a popular event for those wanting to compare vehicles and see new products.  This year it even featured on Channel 5 TV and had capacity crowds.  The Club had a strong presence and it was good to see it promoting the CL network and encouraging new CLs to set up.  

Of the many products on display, the new Solbio toilet chemical caught our eye because it is 100% natural and therefore not harmful to the environment, or to the septic tanks often found on CL sites.  We would encourage all users of toilet fluids to switch to a 'green' product and according to one of our guests who tried it  "a massive thumbs up from me. It has a very pleasant smell and contains no dye" JD.

About half of the CLs on the network are based on working farms. 

Farmers request you keep dogs on leads at lambing time.

Frances Pope runs a small working family farm in north Northamptonshire.

Northfield Farm CL, described as a 'perfect cl' by a recent visitor is an excellent base to explore the lovely villages in the area, or as a stop-over when travelling across the country.   Within a 30 minute drive are several historic properties such as Rockingham Castle, Kelmarsh Hall, Lamport Hall, Boughton House, Althorp and 5 country parks.
